To the Fortune of Mutual Trust.

A Valkyria Chronicles commission, made by the excellent Jakuu. (jakuu.deviantart.com/). Jakuu did an amazing job on this, and I'm grateful to have gotten the chance to collaborate with him on such a moving piece. 

The title comes from one of the songs on the Valkyria Chronicles 3 OST, which plays in Riela's ending.

The scene in this piece shows Blake, my Darcsen OC, proposing to his girlfriend Riela Marcellis, a Valkyria and one of the two female protagonists from Valkyria Chronicles 3, the third game in the Valkyria main series.  This happens shortly after the final mission of the game, right before Squad 422, aka the Nameless, disbands after destroying the Valkyrian Hammer relic/superweapon.  Blake, having narrowly survived the weapon's destruction, proposed to Riela soon after, pledging to uphold his promise to never let her feel lonely again.  

In the story, Blake finds himself joining Squad 422 of the Gallian Army (the Nameless), where he first meets Riela. Their friendship slowly blossoms into love, casually clashing with the histories of their people, especially considering the fact that their ancient ancestors had fought a war between each other thousands of years ago.

Of course, many future antagonists find the very idea of a Darcsen and a Valkyria falling in love to be an heretical outrage, and the couple has to deal with the occasional troubles that come with their relationship.
